One of the delights of life is eating with friends, second to that is talking about eating. And, for an unsurpassed double whammy, there is talking about eating, while you are eating with friends.~Laurie Colwin

Brunswick Stew Day!

Monday was stew day. Alisha's Kitchen ( oh yea, that would be me) made 28 quarts of Brunswick Stew. This stew has placed 2nd in competition last year and 7th the year before that. I have to say it is soooo yummy! It sells out as fast as I can make it. I hope ya'll try it sometime. Happy Eating!

The Rub!

Today I made a batch of Alisha's Kitchen "The Rub". Not only do I have to keep it in bottles for sale, but I go through it pretty quickly myself. We have an order for two Boston Butts worth of pulled pork this weekend. They get rubbed before cooking. It really enhances the flavor of the meat. My friend Marshelle has been telling me about this oven baked chicken she makes with The Rub on it. I think I will cook it this week and tell ya'll all about it. I hope everyone has a great week. Happy Cooking!

Lip Lick'n Lemon Pepper Mahi Mahi

Tonights dinner was yummy! I have done this several times. The Mahi Mahi grills so well, as you can see it does'nt fall apart. It is a thick steak-like fish. I buy it frozen at B.J.'s wholesale club. All you do is thaw it out, marinate it with lemon juice olive oil and Alisha's Lip Lick'n Lemon Pepper seasoning. Grill on medium high heat for 5 minutes per side and you have a perfectly cooked tasty fish. Tonight, I served it with a simple stir-fry of fresh veggies from the garden. I hope you give this fish a try.

Happy Grilling!

Herbed BBQ Chicken

Tonight for dinner, I had chicken laid out. I wanted to do something a little different. I decided to go outside and pick some fresh herbs, which was Basil, Parsley, and Rosemary. I chopped them up and mixed them with some of my Honey BBQ Sauce. Then, I stuffed that mixture under the skin of the chicken. On the outside of the chicken I added some olive oil and "The Rub". I wanted the skin to be really crisp , so I put it on the grill on high heat just to get it charred on both sides. These were big bone in chicken breast so I cooked them using the indirect method. (heat one side of the grill with chicken on the other side) This took about 40 to 45 minutes (170 degrees). Wow!! This chicken was delicious! Crispy skin, very flavorful, the fresh herbs with the Honey BBQ Sauce was great. I served it with an organic spring mix salad. What a very satisfying meal. I hope you will try it. I am posting pictures of before and after cooking. Let me know if you have any questions. Happy Grilling!

Huge Success!!!

The Christmas in July BBQ Benefit was a huge success! We sold completely out of BBQ, and could have sold more. I couldn't believe how busy we were. I want to send a special thanks out to some great friends who helped us make this happen. Robby and Brandy Long the owners of Lakeshore bottle in Acworth. Without them none of this would have been possible. Along with them, Jeff Knight, and Lori Curtis was a tremendous help. A big thank you also to Crist Roofing and of course everyone from the VFW and Soldiers Not Forgotten Inc. We hope to do many more fundraisers for them in the future. I hope everyone had as good a 4th as I did.
