Where have I been?

Hi everyone,

I know I haven't been around in a while. I have been so busy with barbeque'n. I also went on a girls cruise. Woohoo! What a great time that was! Alisha's Kitchen has been selling BBQ every weekend in Acworth. It has been going quite well. We love serving people our food and watching them enjoy it so much. We've started seeing the same people come back again and again. What a great feeling. This coming Saturday we will be setting up at a different location to promote a local business as well as Alisha's Kitchen. Jake's Produce on hwy. 20 is where we will be. They do not carry anything that is not grown or produced in Georgia. We will return to Acworth on Sunday. Bring your appetites out to one of our locations and enjoy some Great BBQ and shopping! I will try not to be so long before my next post.

Happy Cooking, Happy Grilling, and Happy Eating!

The Rub!

Today I made a batch of Alisha's Kitchen "The Rub". Not only do I have to keep it in bottles for sale, but I go through it pretty quickly myself. We have an order for two Boston Butts worth of pulled pork this weekend. They get rubbed before cooking. It really enhances the flavor of the meat. My friend Marshelle has been telling me about this oven baked chicken she makes with The Rub on it. I think I will cook it this week and tell ya'll all about it. I hope everyone has a great week. Happy Cooking!

Lip Lick'n Lemon Pepper Mahi Mahi

Tonights dinner was yummy! I have done this several times. The Mahi Mahi grills so well, as you can see it does'nt fall apart. It is a thick steak-like fish. I buy it frozen at B.J.'s wholesale club. All you do is thaw it out, marinate it with lemon juice olive oil and Alisha's Lip Lick'n Lemon Pepper seasoning. Grill on medium high heat for 5 minutes per side and you have a perfectly cooked tasty fish. Tonight, I served it with a simple stir-fry of fresh veggies from the garden. I hope you give this fish a try.

Happy Grilling!

Herbed BBQ Chicken

Tonight for dinner, I had chicken laid out. I wanted to do something a little different. I decided to go outside and pick some fresh herbs, which was Basil, Parsley, and Rosemary. I chopped them up and mixed them with some of my Honey BBQ Sauce. Then, I stuffed that mixture under the skin of the chicken. On the outside of the chicken I added some olive oil and "The Rub". I wanted the skin to be really crisp , so I put it on the grill on high heat just to get it charred on both sides. These were big bone in chicken breast so I cooked them using the indirect method. (heat one side of the grill with chicken on the other side) This took about 40 to 45 minutes (170 degrees). Wow!! This chicken was delicious! Crispy skin, very flavorful, the fresh herbs with the Honey BBQ Sauce was great. I served it with an organic spring mix salad. What a very satisfying meal. I hope you will try it. I am posting pictures of before and after cooking. Let me know if you have any questions. Happy Grilling!

Huge Success!!!

The Christmas in July BBQ Benefit was a huge success! We sold completely out of BBQ, and could have sold more. I couldn't believe how busy we were. I want to send a special thanks out to some great friends who helped us make this happen. Robby and Brandy Long the owners of Lakeshore bottle in Acworth. Without them none of this would have been possible. Along with them, Jeff Knight, and Lori Curtis was a tremendous help. A big thank you also to Crist Roofing and of course everyone from the VFW and Soldiers Not Forgotten Inc. We hope to do many more fundraisers for them in the future. I hope everyone had as good a 4th as I did.

Hi all! The Tupperware party was great. It's like a blast from the past. I even decided to have a catalog party since all my co-workers wanted to see a book. Tonight's dinner was a simple spaghetti made with whole wheat pasta and lean ground turkey. I picked a bell pepper from the garden and put it in the sauce and added some seasonings including "The Rub" I'm telling you, it goes good on anything. YUM!

Tupperware?

Tonight I have to go to a tupperware party, I know, who does that anymore? I'm kind of excited since it has been so long since I've seen any tupperware. I still have to feed the hard working hubby. So, I put some bone in chicken breast in the Crock pot and seasoned them with my Lip Lick'n Lemon Pepper and walah! dinner is ready. A salad will be a fine side dish and he will have a full belly. Happy Wednesday everyone!

Sauce Day!

Today I processed and bottled 74 bottles of Honey BBQ Sauce. Whew! Thank goodness my neice Leslie came to help me. You would not believe how much work goes in to this production, not to mention all the paperwork. The Department of Agriculture is very particular. Now I will have to label them, another time consuming project. But I love it! Oh yeah, my whole house smells like BBQ Sauce! This picture was taken in my separate commercial kitchen downstairs. Next thing to make is more Brunswick Stew. Have a great nite everyone! Happy Cooking!

Quote of the day

Playwright George Bernard Shaw once wrote "There is no sincerer love than the love of food"

Tonight I am about to indulge in a barbeque stuffed baked potato. We have some pulled pork left over so I'm gonna stuff it into a baked sweet potato and cover it with some Alisha's Kitchen Signature BBQ Sauce and Hidden Valley Light Ranch dressing. May sound strange but I assure you it is delicious! Of course you could use a white potato instead of sweet. I will take a picture of it so everyone can see how yummy it looks. Well, I gotta get to the kitchen and cook. Have a great evening!

Happy Fathers Day!

Hi everyone, for those of you that don't know, I recently got carried away with a new knife while chopping tomatoes and sliced my half my fingernail off. It is healing nicely, just a little hard to type. However the knife sliced through like butter. lol. Next week I'm gonna post some recipes and work on some new spice products. I will keep you informed. Have a great Fathers Day!!
